From print to products to digital media —
experience design enables the user to increase their production, comprehension and enjoyment of the products and systems that they use. When I begin any project I follow three simple rules: Identify, Innovate, Implement. What does that mean?
First I identify the factors that need to be addressed. These may range from user needs to developmental media constraints and stated business goals for the project. After the identification phase it is time to innovate. First we have to think big with no budgets and deadlines to hold us back.
Once we have our best plan we have to implement it. This is the time for deadlines, budget and all other confining factors to be added in. This is the most important phase because it provides focus for the big thinking and hones that big idea to a razor edge.
Whether I am working as a consultant or as part of a corporate team —
my goal for every project is to provide the user with tools that empower them to succeed at whatever it is they are doing. This may be buying a product, researching, learning, playing a game or simply performing essential job functions. No matter what the paradigm.
